Fall in Love with Dahlias:

Two Part Class    -   Dates for 2023 TBA

Part I: All about Dahlias: Varieties, How to Grow, Propagate & Harvest

Part II: Tubers: Digging, Dividing, Storage for Winter

 

Amazing Dahlias! Such abundant, prolific bloomers with so many colors, shapes and sizes. We are quite passionate about them and want you to fall in love with them too! 

 

Part I will arm you with everything you need to know about dahlia care, multiplying your stock and allow a hands-on experience of harvesting from large, cut-flower varieties.

Part II you will learn about digging, dividing and storing tubers, discuss the many options for storing them in winter, even overwintering in the ground. Plus you will receive 2 tubers to add to your collection (a $15 value)

Cool Season Hardy Annuals

The Earliest Spring Bloomers: Cool Season Hardy Annuals

Come learn the basics of growing cut flowers at Clover Hill Farm.  Gain knowledge about the earliest spring flowers to plant in your garden, how to choose flower varieties & grow them successfully starting this fall for next spring. 

 

You will explore…

- the basics of creating a cut-flower garden

- designing a flower bed using the Cool Season Hardy       Annuals

- varieties hardy to your zone that can thrive through the winter and bloom in spring

Plants! Do you love them? Want to learn more about them? Learn to multiply plants and grow your private collection, to share with friends and to save money! Join Amy Davidson, the flower manager at The Farm at Clover Hill to learn the basic methods of plant propagation.
This 90 minute class includes:
1) Walking Tour of the Farm at Clover Hill flower gardens
2) Flower Bouquet: Pick your own flower bouquet
3) Class on Propagation of plants by seed, cuttings, division & layering
-Each participant will learn to take cuttings of succulents, violets, ivy and take those cuttings home to root (we reserve the right to substitute plant type, if necessary)
  -Participants will watch a demonstration on how to take cuttings from and do a layering technique on a hydrangea bush. Cuttings taken will be given away as door prizes to several lucky participants

Snip 'n Sip: Floral Design Workshop
(offered periodically through-out the year)

Bring a friend and join us at Clover Hill U-Pick Flower Market to learn the secrets of great floral design. At this Snip ’n Sip event, local certified florist, Dawn Marshall of Donahoe’s Whimsical Flowers, Front Royal (https://www.facebook.com/whimsicalflowersbydawn) will be demonstrating concepts and techniques behind floral design. After the demo, you will create your own bouquet to take home using the flowers grown on the farm. Dawn will be available to provide hands on guidance as you build your bouquet. Light refreshments will be served.

Includes all flowers, vase, floral class and refreshments $45.00 per person

The Basics of No-Dig Gardening
(offered periodically through-out the year)

Want to garden? Let us help you! We practice the "No-Till" Method of gardening, come to Clover Hill Farm to learn why it is one of the easiest and most productive methods of starting new garden beds.  Classes will be hands-on, so come dressed appropriately.
